A Ballinger man was tragically killed in a one-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities say Anthony Miguel Leija, 33, was driving a Chevy Silverado on County Road 287, about six miles west of Ballinger, when he lost control of the vehicle at around 8:35 p.m.
The truck veered off the roadway for reasons still under investigation. Leija reportedly overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn and land in a nearby field. He was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Leija was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Lane Pinckney.
A Life Cut Short
Beyond the crash details, Anthony Leija is remembered by loved ones as a beloved husband to Alexandria Leija and a dedicated father of six children. Friends and family say he worked hard to provide for his family and carried himself with kindness and devotion.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause.
