With profound sadness, we share the heartbreaking loss of Kai James Grant, a vibrant 19-year-old from Green, Ohio, who tragically passed away by suicide on June 8, 2025.

Born on June 29, 2005, Kai was a recent graduate of Green High School and was pursuing a degree in Political Science at Ohio State University. Known for his bold conviction, sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty, Kai was an outspoken advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
His courage to challenge the status quo, combined with his humor and authenticity, left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Kai was a loving and protective brother to Kamyl and Brooke, and a favorite among his siblings Hayden and Daven.
His family—parents Regina and Andy Jesser, William Barnett, and Deszmon Grant—along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and peers, mourn his loss deeply. Known for his competitive spirit and lively personality, Kai brought energy and joy to all his endeavors, from video games to late-night movie marathons.
