The Indianapolis community is mourning the tragic loss of Brittany Nicole Kavanaugh, 29, who was fatally shot early Saturday morning on the city’s south side. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 6:46 a.m. to the 200 block of East Troy Avenue following reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived, Brittany was found inside a building with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries. The Marion County Coroner’s Office officially identified her on Monday.
