Peyton Nations – Suspect in Custody After Tennessee Double Homicide and Multi-County Manhunt

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Peyton Nations, the suspect in a double homicide that sparked a multi-county manhunt across Tennessee on Sunday.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the Overton County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Freeman Lane shortly before noon. When deputies arrived, they discovered two individuals dead at the scene.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) said a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for Nations and his vehicle was issued shortly after the homicides were reported. Within hours, a fisherman on Center Hill Lake spotted a man pushing a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s into the water at a rural boat ramp. The fisherman immediately contacted authorities.

Later that evening, around 6 p.m., THP troopers located and arrested Nations near mile marker 283 on Interstate 40. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Overton County Jail for booking.

The victims’ identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family. The TBI confirmed the investigation remains active and ongoing in coordination with OCSO and THP.

  1. Mr Nations was taken into custody by a THP officer on Old Baxter Rd south of Interstate I-40. It is known as the Hickey Community in the Silver Point, Putnam County area. My family friend saw him by his pond and contacted authorities. There were several police personal who responded. He was in custody without incident.
