Grand Canyon National Park Accident: Steven Drew Bradley, 27, identified as Man Died After Car Plunges 300 Feet in Apparent Suicide

Officials say a 27-year-old Colorado man has died after his vehicle went over the rim of the Grand Canyon in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide.

On Sunday, September 7, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received reports of a car with one occupant that had driven over the rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead.

Responding rangers located the vehicle about 300 feet below the rim. The driver, identified as Steven Drew Bradley, 27, of Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was recovered by helicopter and later transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. Bradley was a Marine veteran and a beloved son, brother, and friend.

The incident remains under investigation by the National Park Service in coordination with the medical examiner’s office. No further details have been released.

Bradley, born November 27, 1997, is remembered by family and friends as “Just Druzi,” according to an online tribute.

Grand Canyon National Park officials emphasized the seriousness of the incident and encouraged visitors to be mindful of mental health resources.
