The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the identity of the individual whom authorities suspect was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident.
Nicole Burke, aged 37, from South Wayne, Wisconsin, was discovered deceased at the location, according to a press release.
The press release indicates that authorities were called to the 8800 block of Illinois 78 North, located just northwest of Warren, shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday, following a report of an unresponsive individual found in a ditch. First responders assessed the situation and determined that the individual, later identified as Burke, was deceased.
Authorities suspect that Burke was struck by a vehicle while she was walking northwest along Illinois 78 North, as stated in the release. The vehicle subsequently fled the scene.
