Texas City High School Incident; Texas City High School on Lockdown After Threat Phoned Into Police

Texas City High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after a phoned-in threat was reported to the Texas City Police Department.

The lockdown began at 2:33 p.m., with all students and staff secured inside the building as law enforcement agencies responded. Officials confirmed there is no active threat on or near campus, but as a precaution, police conducted a thorough room-by-room search of the school.

During the lockdown, no one was allowed to enter or exit the school grounds. By 2:59 p.m., the lockdown was still in effect.

According to TCISD Communications Director Melissa Tortorici, many students were gathered in the high school gym for the first pep rally of the football season when the threat was reported. They remained in the gym under supervision while Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies, Texas City Police officers, and other agencies carried out the search.

Authorities said the threat is not considered credible at this time. The district confirmed that all students and staff are safe while the investigation continues.

Police are expected to provide further updates once the search is complete.
