Police have identified the man killed in a crash Monday evening as 25-year-old Joseph Buckalew.
According to investigators, Buckalew was walking along Highway 59 near Baldwin Prep Academy around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car. He did not have any identification on him at the time of the crash, which initially made it difficult for authorities to confirm his identity.
While police have now identified Buckalew, they say his exact hometown remains unknown. Investigators have located some distant relatives in Spanish Fort, but are still working to learn more about his background and notify any immediate family.
