Columbus police have identified the man who died following a weekend shooting involving family members, describing the case as a tragic and accidental incident.

Authorities confirmed that 24-year-old Is’shan Trowsdell passed away on Thursday after succumbing to injuries sustained during the shooting, which took place early Saturday, August 24, in the 300 block of East 1st Avenue.
Officers responded to the scene shortly before 5 a.m. after reports of gunfire and found two adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Trowsdell was critically injured and transported to the hospital, where he remained in life-threatening condition until his death. The second victim, whose identity has not been released, was treated and later discharged.
Detectives have characterized the shooting as a “non-intentional discharge between family members,” noting that no charges have been filed at this stage. The case will be reviewed by the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office once the investigation is complete.
