Authorities in Nashville have confirmed the tragic deaths of both victims involved in a motorcycle crash earlier this week. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that the collision occurred Tuesday night on Nolensville Pike when a 2014 CFMoto 650 motorcycle carrying two riders collided with a Chrysler Aspen SUV that was pulling out of a gas station.

The impact of the crash was severe, throwing both riders from the motorcycle. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported the victims to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 19-year-old Daniel Velasco-Reyes, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His passenger, 19-year-old Mariana Maldanado-Vergara, was initially listed in critical condition but tragically passed away on Thursday, two days after the accident.
Investigators believe speed was the primary contributing factor in the deadly crash. Police confirmed there was no evidence of impairment from either driver involved. The SUV driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with officers during the investigation.
The devastating loss of Velasco-Reyes and Maldanado-Vergara has cast a somber shadow over the South Nashville community. Both were just beginning their adult lives, and their sudden passing underscores the dangers of high-speed motorcycle crashes.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of safe driving practices, especially on heavily traveled roads such as Nolensville Pike, which has been the site of numerous serious accidents in recent years. For now, family, friends, and community members are left mourning two young lives taken far too soon.
