A potentially tragic situation was averted Wednesday after a reported active shooter at the Walmart on NW Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis was located and taken into custody.
The store was placed on lockdown as first responders rushed to the scene following reports of an alleged shooter inside the building. Customers and staff were instructed to shelter in place while law enforcement conducted a search.
Authorities later confirmed that the suspect had been taken into custody without any shots fired. The lockdown has since been lifted, and normal operations have resumed at the store.
No injuries were reported, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
