A shooting at Naval Station Great Lakes on Wednesday has left one person dead, according to authorities on the scene.

The incident occurred at approximately 3200 Illinois Street, where emergency personnel from Great Lakes Naval Police and the Great Lakes Fire Department responded to reports of a person shot on the base. Upon arrival, first responders found the victim unconscious and not breathing.
CPR was initiated immediately, but despite life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have confirmed that this is not an active shooter situation, and there is no ongoing threat to others at the base or surrounding areas. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
